Baseball Drops Four Games In Texas

After starting the season off 8-1, the Bluejays hit a skid when they played Mount Marty and SAGU in a tri-team series. The series presented a proper challenge for the Bluejays, as both Mount Marty and SAGU are some of the best teams in the region. Last year SAGU finished with a record of 38-16, and Mount Marty finished 35-16.

Friday: Tabor 3, Mount Marty 5 (8 Innings)

The Bluejays got on the board first when they scored two runs in the bottom of the 1st. Mount Marty tied things up in the top of the 2rd when they scored two of their own. Both teams scored one run in the 5th inning, knotting things up at 3. The 7th inning is where Mount Marty would pull away with two more runs, and the Bluejays would finish without scoring another run.

Tyler Mata Lloyd (JR/Fort Collins, Colo.) scored the first run of the game off a sacrifice fly by Cody Moore(SO/Midlothian, Texas). Micah Dvorak (SO/Garden City, Kan.) followed that run up by hitting a grounded out that scored Brayden Whitchurch (SR/Wichita, Kan.). Tabor's 3rd run of the game when Jackie Jimenez (JR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) reached 1st on an error that scored Lloyd.

Quintin Holman(SO/Nebraska City, Neb.) pitched the first 5 innings. Of the 18 batters he faced he struck out seven of them.

Friday: Tabor 1, SAGU 14 (7 Innings)

Tabor scored their one and only run in the first inning. Cody Moore grounded out but managed to score Brayden Whitchurch. SAGU had three big innings where they scored four in the 2nd, six in the 3rd, and four in the 5th. Jackie Jimenez, Ethan Williams (JR/Standish, Calif.), and Micah Dvorak all got off two hits.

Saturday: Tabor 0, Mount Marty 4 (7 Innings)

Both teams would go scoreless through the first 4 innings. Mount Marty scored their first run in the bottom of the 5th and then 3 more in the bottom of the 6th while never letting the Bluejays find home.

Tyler Mata Lloyd recorded 2 of the Bluejays 5 hits in the game. Evan Williams (SO/Sandpoint, Idaho) pitched the first 5 innings where he only allowed 4 hits.

Saturday: Tabor 1, SAGU 2 (8 Innings)

Brayden Whitchurch got the Bluejays the early lead when he hit a homerun as the game's second at-bat. SAGU would tie things up at 1-1 in the 3rd. Neither team would score until the extra inning, when SAGU got the walk-off run in the bottom of the 8th.  Max Raddatz (SO/St. George, Utah) pitched the first six innings, facing 24 batters, striking out six and only allowing seven hits.
